To All A Good Night: Remembering a Universal Poem

A father settles into bed, his children already snug and asleep, dreaming of dancing sugar plums. Just as he and his wife get under the covers, he hears a noise, runs to the window, and opens the shutters. Startle turns to delight when he spots a miniature sleigh led by eight reindeer, its driver a lively, little old man. Surely, he wonders aloud, now convinced he knows the whistling charioteer, “he must be St. Nick.”

Honoring Palm Beach Architecture

Next month, on December 10, the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Robert I. Ballinger Award with an award presentation and luncheon at The Breakers. In addition to honoring this year’s Ballinger recipient, the event will toast the publication of the Preservation Foundation’s new book, Palm Beach: An Architectural Heritage, published by Rizzoli.

Bright Roads Ahead on Florida’s Brightline

The sunshine state is picking up more speed of late—in the form of Brightline, the intercity higher-speed rail system that began operations earlier this year between Miami and West Palm Beach, with a single intermediate stop at Fort Lauderdale. Orlando is the next scheduled destination for 2021 as the service expands in the coming years with a West Palm Beach–Orlando segment, via Cocoa.
