Age Of Experience: Edith Wharton At 150

Here at Quest we just started reading a collection of Edith Wharton’s New York stories, and lo and behold yesterday turns out to be her 150th birthday.

According to Google News, media coverage — at least among smaller websites — looks to have been reasonably strong yesterday for a patrician author who awkwardly straddles the 19th century and Modernism. Gothamist had this little tribute, the Omaha World-Herald had this interesting piece about how Wharton chose her character’s names, and the Berkshire Eagle has an article about The Mount (as well as the debt-ridden nonprofit Edith Wharton restoration organization), the estate in Massachusetts where Wharton lived and which continues to carry the torch for this Pulitzer Prize winning writer.
