Today the Telegraph previews the upcoming auction at Sotheby’s London of the spoils of international playboy Gunter Sachs, who spent one year married to Brigitte Bardot and once quipped it was like spending 10 years married to any other woman. We think he meant it in a good way.
Sachs’ art collection is being sold by the wife who succeeded Bardot, Mirja Larsson, and includes the Warhol portrait of Bardot that Sachs commissioned five years after his divorce from the archetypal pouty-lipped French siren.
The auction takes place May 22-23 and also includes works by Avedon, Magritte, Dali and Yves Klein. Sotheby’s calls it “among the most remarkable single-owner collections to appear at auction.”
