Two Madison Avenue icons have joined forces in a new collection of fine stationery designed for Mrs. John L. Strong by Oscar de la Renta. The collaboration is part of the designer’s new foray beyond the art of dressmaking and into the world of lifestyle marketing.
But what isn’t new is the old-world craftsmanship employed by Mrs. John L. Strong, which has been supplying New York with fine paper for accepting and declining invitations since 1929.
De la Renta’s designs for cards, invites, and place cards (part of a hostess ensemble) are
all hand-engraved on steel dies and run through the press by hand. They are printed on Mrs. John L. Strong’s 100% cotton “vanilla” four-ply card stock with a matching gold bevel, providing luxury stationery at its finest.
Also on display is the “regrets” card (a necessity for anyone with a busy social calendar), and de la Renta’s “PR Girl” personal stationery.
