Last night, the UK-based online fashion brand and retailer boohoo.com celebrated the launch of its Spring/Summer 2013 collection in New York City. The venue space itself, an old firehouse in TriBeCa recreated to look like Manchester’s legendary Haçienda nightclub, was a wonder. And it certainly delivered enough visual goods to justify the faith of fashion retailer boohoo.com, who showcased some looks from their new High Summer 2013 collection.
For High Summer, denim shorts and Aztec-like prints ran rampant. In theory, the prints on the denim were fun, but they didn’t translate well onto the clothes. There were also some stretch denim skirts and ultra-light denim jumpsuits that were underwhelming. What I did like was a sheer nude skirt that delicately fell just past the knees with a fringed lace hem and partial lining. It was the blaring star of the collection. I also spotted a playful sandy lace and animal print shirt on actress Shenae Grimes who was in attendance. Cheers to boohoo.com for giving us an electrifying night music of fashion.
