A luxurious beauty infused every second of today’s J. Mendel show from French fashion designer Gilles Mendel. For Fall 2013, Mendel weaved disparate elements of decadence and discipline into a sleek, coherent whole. Mendel is a marvel, equally talented at day dresses, eveningwear, or accessories. One of his looks, a moss-shaded velvet mink jacket, was cut close to the body giving the opulent material a sporty look. For evening, necklines were draped and slashed, showing unexpected flashes of skin. Stacked gold cuffs covered in mink, raccoon, and fox were playfully elegant. Mendel is a true visionary, and his intellect continues to give his collections a ravishing grandeur.
