On Friday October 8th, Quest was invited to partake in a very enlightening (and entertaining!) flower design class with Michael Gaffney, founder of the New York School of Flower Design. The class took place at The Players Club, a charming 122-year-old private club in Gramercy Park. The Club is now the new home of Michael Gaffney’s intensive, four-week flower design course, “Vivaldi: The Four Seasons of Design,” which is now open for enrollment, and promises to turn its students into professional flower designers!
Upon arrival to the club, we were immediately welcomed by the enchanting aroma of hundreds of fresh flowers, and by the affable Michael Gaffney himself. Sitting before Michael, and riveted by his tutorial, he demonstrated the simple techniques that can turn any flimsy bouquet into a stunning centerpiece for a beautifully decorated dinner table.
After discovering the steps to simple, but elegant, flower arranging, and then taking a break to sip champagne, we were given the chance to create our own bridal bouquet. And surely enough, Michael’s promises of being able to turn anyone into a professional floral designer came true! We all walked home proudly with our beautiful bouquets, looking forward to Michael’s next lesson.
