Domaine de Manville, Provence
If the Impressionist in you is longing for the natural pleasures of Provence, Domaine de Manville offers the perfect solution. The 250-acre estate is situated in the regional Alpilles Park, close to the medieval village of Les Baux and the 10th-century fortified castle Château de Baux. It’s a convenient hour’s drive from St. Remy, Avignon, Arles, and the Camargue. The property was lovingly restored by Patrick and Edith Saut, and its name pays homage to Louis-Alexandre Blanc de Manville, who, in 1908, developed an agriculture complex. He built rectangular stone buildings in a U-shape around a courtyard planted with plane trees. Today, the historic look and feel remain in place, with 30 rooms and suites located around the U-shape courtyard with a fountain. Golf among olive trees and streams at the eco-friendly Thierry Sprecher golf course, or indulge in a spa treatment featuring products grown on site. If you brush up on your French before visiting, you should know that “stress” has no translation at Domaine de Manville.
