La Prairie, the luxurious skincare line founded by the ancient shores of Lake Leman in Switzerland, revealed today the renovation and relocation of its tony space on the Bergdorf Goodman beauty floor. The new location on one of New York’s most indulgent beauty floors includes nearly 250 square feet of retail space, with an additional 80 square feet dedicated to a private La Prairie treatment room.
Bergdorf Goodman has some of the world’s most discerning and astute shoppers, so it makes sense that La Prairie would dedicate a series of elements exclusively for the new space here, including custom tester and countertop units and a facial technique offered only in the private treatment room, as well as a visual moving montage that emphasizes the brand’s aspirations and inspirations.
The design was inspired by a chic, architectural Swiss minimalism that conveys elevated precision, purity, and elegance—true to La Prairie’s heritage. Each of the brand’s coveted collections and full offerings in skincare, color, and fragrance are readily available. A menu of services details the touch points all customers are invited to experience with one of its three expertly trained beauty advisors on staff. The brand’s new fall launch, Skin Caviar Essence-in-Lotion, was the first new product to make its debut at Bergdorf Goodman.
The carefully chosen elements and design offer Swiss luxe right here in midtown. There are two dedicated consultation stations, multiple panels displaying brand iconography, and 25 display areas for products. The product risers are sleek, mirrored, and lit from within to support a floating, ethereal effect. Elitis fabrics cover the fixtures in clean whites and grays; the floors are made of sharp Italian marble, and custom stools and tables are covered in the finest Knoll fabrics. In addition, a Mizu by Terzani chandelier hangs over the experience table illuminating the space ever so delicately.
The private treatment room features a La Prairie esthetician based in-store. She happens to be the exclusive provider of the specialized 60-minute “Swiss Indulgence” facial offered only at Bergdorf Goodman. The new facial incorporates a mask peel treatment, heated dermaglobes, and a Skin Caviar luxury hand-and-arm massage that uses warmed, soothing mitts for an ultimate experience just steps from the counter. Top-quality linens and an international playlist looping in the background make you feel like you just landed in Switzerland itself. If you’re phone is nearing 10% of its charge, fret not: the changing room features a private closet for personal effects, a built-in safe for valuables, and an electronic charging station.
La Prairie first opened at Bergdorf Goodman in August of 1980, and has undergone only one other refresh in its previous space over the past 36 years. It’s only fitting that the brand rededicates itself to Bergdorf Goodman, considering La Prairie’s innovative skincare, color, and fragrance collections are widely regarded for setting the benchmark in the luxury cosmetic industry.
