Lilly Pulitzer Rousseau, Princess of Prints

by Lily Hoagland

Yesterday, Palm Beach maven Lilly Pulitzer Rousseau passed away at the age of 81.

Best-known for the bright, tropical prints on which she based an empire, she created a brand that became a standard of resort wear for generations. Though the Lilly Pulitzer dresses humbly sprung from a juice stand in the middle of Palm Beach citrus groves, they became a fashion staple, with clients like Jacqueline Kennedy donning their exotic designs. Lilly colored her world with stripes of neon green and fluorescent pink, and covered it with patterns of palm trees and conch shells.

We here at Quest will always fondly remember this amazing woman.
