The Thompson Hotels on the Lower East Side and SoHo both have fabulous rooftop lounges. Whether you’re east or west you’ll have some good options. While both locations are for hotel guests and members only, they do throw events during the summer that are open to the public.
Above Allen features a retractable glass roof, providing guests with spectacular views of the city skyline. Fresh and fun cocktails are a must, and members can pair their drink with a selection small plates from SHANG’s global Chinese menu.
A60 Bar and Lounge is located at the 60 Thompson Street location and is also members only, but non-members are permitted access when they arrive on an evening and hour when there is space to accommodate them.

JIMMY is a contemporary rooftop bar with a 1970’s New York feel. The lounge is warm with herringbone floors, a leather trimmed solid wood bar top, brick glazed tile walls, blue couches and a working fireplace. JIMMY also features rooftop pool deck with views that overlook Wall Street and the Brooklyn Bridge. Guests can order cocktails with ingredients that include syrups, bitters and juices prepared in-house.

While The Standard Hotel’s architecture may be breathtaking, so is it’s rooftop spot Le Bain. Located in the heart of the Meatpacking District, Le Bain offers incredible views of the Hudson River, the High Line and downtown Manhattan. If you want to enjoy the sunset after work, head up to the 18th floor, as the bar is open after 2pm. The vibe is fun like a pool party with faux grass, and even a jacuzzi. For a complete 360 view of the city’s skyline, head over to the Top of The Standard – It also has a rooftop with a view that can’t be beat.

Next on the list is PH-D, located at Vikram Chatwel’s opulent Dream Downtown. PH-D has outstanding panoramic views, comfy couches and a full list of wines, beers, and cocktails. The inside of this bi-level rooftop lounge is just as nice. With deluxe touches like Italian Porto marble, amber Venini glass chandeliers and a DJ with state-of-the-art audio and light system, PH-D is the perfect place to entertain some guests and get your groove on.

Located on the 23rd floor, Salon de Ning is a stunning and dramatic midtown lounge with a fresh view. This rooftop bar overlooks Fifth Avenue and fuses Chinese and international influences into it’s theme. The stylish rooftop is influenced by 1930’s Shanghai and has a casual dress code.
