Based in Georgetown and launched last week, Tuckernuck is an online boutique putting a fresh spin on classic American style. The new shop combines up-and-coming fashion brands with more established labels and targets a new generation with looks rooted in timeless preppy style.
The concept was born after a year of photographing stylish students on prestigious campuses across the country for the successful University lifestyle and flash sale website Uscoop. Tuckernuck’s team includes founders include Madeline Moore, September Rinnier (both Penn ’09) and Jocelyn Gailliot (Brown ’03), plus creative director Sophie Newbold (Penn ’09) and Emily Hayes (Trinity ’11).
As for the company’s inspiration, Tuckernuck has this to say:
From family summers in Nantucket and holiday skiing in Vail to tailgating at St. Anthony Hall on Penn’s locust walk, Maddy, September, Jocelyn, and Sophie wondered why not highlight this contemporary preppy look and all-American life in a one-stop shop online?
Telling the story behind the brands we find in cool places like Newport and Sea Island, along with the profile of each new actual person that models the product, helps keep people interested and engaged. We also intend to cover the events where the style prevails, like Foxfield Races and Charleston Race Week to keep content fresh and viewers excited.
And the models are real folks, often students, who are allowed to style the looks themselves. Check it out at shoptuckernuck.com.
