Viktor & Rolf Present “Mariage”

With New York Bridal Week came the introduction of Viktor&Rolf’s 2018 Spring/Summer Bridal collection—each dress in the collection presenting a distinct, autonomous character, and each with its own striking silhouette. The collection is comprised of illustrative A-line dresses, graceful  column dresses, voluminous ball gowns, tailored jumpsuits and playful short dresses—all representative of the continued evolution of bridalwear by prominent fashion designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren. Regarding this collection, Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren affirm: “We are excited to continue our exploration of the wedding dress. While designing, we are looking for something bold, architectural, unfussy yet spectacular, with an emphasis on a precise, outspoken silhouette. To support this vision, we favor compact, structured fabrics and graphic bold, outspoken embellishments.”

Some highlights from Mariage:

A soft, modern satin creates a charming take on this classic voluminous ball gown. The sweetheart bodice incorporates a generous bow that drapes down over the lavish skirt. The skirt itself features small pockets and dramatic volume thanks to a detachable underskirt. The style is finished with a majestic train flaring out from the skirt.

Sculptural A-line gown crafted from a Japanese double-faced satin with intricate seaming details and a high neckline that create a clean and modern silhouette. Graphic bow detailing at the nape of the neckdrapes into an elegant watteau train.

Inspired by Austrian Empress Sisi, this Italian flocked sequin gown draws all attention to its voluminous statement skirt. The bodice features petite tailored sleeves and a crystallised neckline with a matching waistband. The neckline descends to create a modern open back, secured by a playful crystallised bow. This dramatic gown is paired with an additional underskirt to allow for the creation of different volumes.
Mini length, flirty dress crafted from Japanese crepe features a round-neck bodice with feminine volant plastron detailing and is studded with bold embroidery. Featuring tulle volant sleeves and an enticing open back framed by small, modern volants and striking embroidery that extends down the A-line skirt.
Sweetheart bodice cut from Italian flocked sequins features a semi hidden layer floating in the voluminous light tulle skirt. Handcrafted flowers created from layers of soft tulle and decorated with embroidered centres, flow from the hips, hiding small pockets down the skirt and into the dramatic train. This gown is paired with an additional underskirt to allow the creation of different volumes, and is finished with the signature semi visible golden Viktor&Rolf zipper.
