Visit Firenze to Witness the Making of a Furla Handbag

Furla is releasing the Ducale and the Stacy Casanova bags as part of its Venice-inspired Spring Summer 2018 collection. These bags represent fine Italian craftsmanship by exhibiting elegant details done by hand. The Ducale bag is available now, and the Stacy Casanova bag will be available on April 9.

Furla’s Ducale satchel bag comes in vibrant solid colors including blue and pink. It is sophisticated and versatile—inspired by a journey through Venice. The Ducale bag is made of textured Hercules calfskin leather with a scalloped metallic clasp. Recently, the brand offered a behind-the-scenes glimpse inside its Italian factory (located near Firenze) for a look at how a bag is born.

The artisans hand cut the flap before inserting the metal clasp.
The clasp is then carefully attached by hand.
The edge-painting is done by hand to embellish the bag and provide a luxurious look.
The artisan spends more than a day perfecting each bag.

Furla’s Stacy Casanova bag represents timeless Italian design. It is made of black and white intertwined panels—woven by hand. The intricate design showcases precise, handcrafted work. The black cord closure, shoulder strap, and smooth calfskin create an elegant and contemporary feel, while keeping the bag practical for use.

Artisans hand weave the leather strips.
After the weaving is done, the Furla logo is sewn on.
The artisan uses a hammer to create perfect holes, and then interweaves the black cord.
The complex construction of the bag is now complete.
