If you haven’t yet taken a sip of Wölffer Estate’s notorious “Summer in a Bottle” rosé, you might very well be living under a rock. One of our favorite summertime aspects of the sweeping vineyard is the Wine Stand right along Montauk Highway in Sagaponack. Now that it is officially “summer,” there will be weekend musical performances at the adorable cottage alongside the road. Every Friday and Saturday a different band performs while the sun settles down into the vines behind you.
Sounds blissful, doesn’t it? What’s better is that they sell their own wine inside the stand, available for purchase by glass or bottle, depending on how big of a bang you want to start your weekend off with. If halfway down the L.I.E. you feel your tummy start to rumble, you are in luck! They also offer cheese and charcuterie plates, in addition to some very yummy wraps to go with your bottled summer.
If you are unable to get there early to snag one of the tables, be sure to bring a blanket with you so you can lounge on the grass with a few friends and enjoy the evening air. The music and service starts at 5 p.m. and goes until sunset.
This weekend’s performances will feature Hopefully Forgiven on Friday, and Lynn Blue on Saturday. The types of bands performing vary on the night, but there is a convenient schedule online. This month there was every type of music from vintage jazz to Spanish Guitar, and everything in between.
You love the idea of attending a wine party, but you aren’t as thrilled about lounging on the ground? Check out the Wölffer Estate’s Twilight Thursdays, where you can relax in the vineyard’s candlelit tasting room. It’s the perfect spot to stop if you are heading out East early for the weekend! Thursday’s affair also offers music, of the more subdued variety, so not to worry if you thought your were missing out on the ambiance of the boozy bash over at the Wine Stand.
Thankfully, Wölffer’s Wine Stand will continue to be a Hamptons hotspot through September!
